EyeTV 4 works perfectly on MacOS 15 Sequoia AFTER a complete EyeTV un-install EyeTV 4 works fine on my Intel Mac (Big Sur) but gave numerous crashes on my Apple Silicon Mac (Sequoia). I struggled a lot before finding the work around : EyeTV 4 runs perfectly after a complete un-install on my MacBookPro M4. To be sure to un-install EyeTV 4 completely, I used CleanMyMac. But other utilities should work too. Then I re-installed EyeTV 4 with the latest installer : eyetv 4.0.0 (8532) (64-bit) MAC version. Hope this helps.

No HD live TV after upgrade to macOS 15.4 I upgraded macOS on my mac mini M2 from 15.3.2 to 15.4. After the upgrade EyeTV 4.0.0 (8532) was not able to stream the German HD programs. SD steaming is working. I'm using an EyeTV T2 Hybrid. Please build a new working version for macOS 15.4. Great thanks for your help.

Niels, you're 100% right. I was nervous about by-passing a security certificate that Apple had set up, but to go back to an old OS is like putting a bucket under a drip... so I used Sentinel, and fixed the drip. And I'm rather smug now, that I did. The spirit of cooperation on these forums makes the world a better place. Thanks Niels, and everybody. GeoffPh PS: It's hard to work out, but I think I've used Eyetv for over twenty years, and there's no alternative here in Australia. To lose it would be a serious inconvenience. G

"Activation key invalidated" issue - a new discovery I have just sent the above-quoted message to Geniatech Tech Support, in the hopes of at least getting a response. Based on many years of experience, I do not expect that anyone is going to fix anything; but at least they can't say they weren't told about the issue. After the death of my 2015 13" i7 MacBook Pro Retina last May, where I alternated successfully between EyeTV 3.6.9 (7530) and EyeTV 4.0 (8528) using a networked HDHomeRun Quattro, on macOS Mojave 10.14. I have been scrambling around trying to recover a restorable copy of my data (the series of crashes that killed the laptop also wrecked my Time Machine backup). After many months of drag-copying (copied folders lost their titles; I had to drag them one by one, and restore the file titles individually), I finally recreated a bootable drive to act as a data source for a Migration Assistant restoration. Yesterday night, I successfully transferred the data to a 2019 16" i9 MacBook Pro Retina with a clean install of macOS Sequoia 15.3.1, using Apple's setup assistant. The copy of EyeTV 4.0 (8528) that was installed with the transferred system launched successfully, without the "invalidated activation number" notice; but that build refused to load any data from my networked HDHomeRun tuner. The automatic update window offered an update to EyeTV 4.0 (8532), which I accepted. Mistake! Once (8532) launched, the "invalidated activation number" notice reappeared, as had happened with a different installation on an external Big Sur/macOS 11.. So the issue is recent; whoever's responsible for the activation check that treats paying customers as petty criminals - they're probably still employed at Geniatech, or under contract to them. They could remove this activation check, if they chose to do so. Who aren't they doing so? I will try uninstalling EyeTV 4.0 (8532) and reinstalling EyeTV 4.0 (8528) to see if that eliminates the activation problem. Perhaps some bits were left behind or damaged in the data transfer, and the absence/damage is preventing the data stream from the tuner. I will note that the build available from the "Latest 64-bit software for your Mac" page on the Geniatech site is 8528, not 8532. I'll post back with the results.I'll also post back if I get any response to my complaint email. If we can finally get some resolution to this offensive, stupid validation issue, then we could progress to the fact that the EPG hasn't worked reliably for years, and hasn't worked at all for for months/years at a stretch. But until the application works, worrying about the EPG makes no sense. Does anyone know whether there was an intermediate build 8530?

EricL Just take a look at the most recent forum updates here as this may be your issue. I had EyeTV running fine on Sequioa and then an update broke it. My issue was to do with gatekeeper/expired certs (as the app is no longer being developed). All down to mac OS becoming more like iOS It can be easily fixed by using Sentinel to self-sign the cert (Google 'sentinel macupdate'), but I wasn't sure what Sentinel did and didn't want to install something else into the mix and so got it sorted by running commands in terminal instead. First you need to remove the quarantine attribute from the downloaded dmg using xattr. The command should be: xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine /path/to/your_file.dmg Install the dmg Next bit is for removing old cert from the app and installing a self-signed cert: The below is taken from another forum for OpenSCAD program that was also broke from mac updates. You just need to change the app name to the EyeTV name showing when you use finder to view the application in the applications folder...not at home so can't quote the app name directly {possibly EyeTV.app} The below "removes the signature of the app and then self-signs it then solved the problem for OpenSCAD 2021.01" codesign --remove-signature /Applications/OpenSCAD.app codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/OpenSCAD.app I have a second machine (also on Sequoia) and it never had had EyeTV running on it previously. I installed as above and it runs perfectly I know that my issue was with Sequoina, but I have seen the other guys on here have eyeTV running fine in Tahoe

I had the same question, wanting to keep EyeTV 3 on my Apple Mac M1 (EyeTV 4 editing "capabilities" are a nightmare). So I asked this question to Mistral AI : "Can Parallels run a Mojave virtual machine on Sequoia on an Apple Mac M1?" Mistral short answer is NO, with more details below :

I would like to point out that it is once again, functional without quitting immediately. It still will never have any of the features that they had when it was under Elgato in the version three. You cannot set the priority of choices you want recorded. I have three tuners on one Mac computer and it records multiple shows all the time. I cannot enter my TV Guide information from my HD home run. It's still forcibly quits once in a while when I tried to delete shows that are currently recording that I don't want, because there's no way for me to not record old shows, that I know of. There's a lot of bull crap left that they need to do and they don't support their users and I bet they don't even read the forums here so they could actually learn what people want fixed.

I'm afraid there is no "customer service" or "customer support" from Geniatech any more regarding EyeTV, even though they are still selling the software 🤷‍♂️ That means they will never respond to any cases. Sorry. This forum of the last dozen or so interested users is your only hope.

Same problem here. No reply from customer "service" for several weeks...

Two notes: the link on the eytv reporter page no longer works, but you only have to change the saturn in the url to www: https://saturn.geniatech.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/EyeTV-Reporter.dmg_.zip And instead of physically staking something, you can use a tool that blocks network connections, the best known in this area is https://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html?cmdf=littlesnitch But there is also a free alternative (or donationware): https://objective-see.org/products/lulu.html?cmdf=lulu+firewall+macos Warm regards

The Sentinel-fix worked for me as well (https://eyetvforum.com/index.php?/topic/316621-eyetv-4-with-macos-15-sequoia/). Thank you so much for the help AGB! Geniatech Support did not respond. Problem: Since I've updated my MacMini to macOS 15.4, EyeTV4 no longer works. As soon as LiveTV is started the app seems to crash / freeze and I can only "force quit". Using "EyeTV reporter", I've re-installed EyeTV and deleted all preferences, but it has not solved the problem. Glad Sentinel s working for you guys. I'll wait a week or two to see if Elgato surprises me with a fix. I not, I'll go the Sentinel route. I've been using EyeTV with my ancient Hybrid (over component video) since 2010. Agree, the cooperation on these forums is cool. Thanks. -Jeff

I don't know what's happen .... I did some steps back. I did a clean macOS installation of 15.4. I installed the old EyeTV 4 (8528) and used Sentinel. Now EyeTV is working. Have nice week. Michael

Download Sentinel from MacUpdate. Open it and drag EyeTV app icon into "Self sign the app" Open EyeTv and you should be in business. https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/64643/sentinel

Update: new location with different HW: Mac mini M1 + EyeTV Sat Free After upgrade the same problem: No HD stream. I used the EyeTV Reporter app to uninstall the EyeTV app. Performed a clean EyeTV installation and setup, but the same bad result 😞 Now I'm back to 15.3.2. I'm out of ideas and the support response = zero 😞 Seems to be that EyeTV is not supported anymore .....

I know this doesn't help, but just to show that this is not a universal problem, it continues to work fine here (except for the long-running "close window before quitting" bug). Mini M1, HDHomeRun

"Do you really believe after all this years that this software is still active ?" it was up until 15.4 "that someone cares" not in the least ", that they send your registraion key." When I got a new system my EyeTV code was flagged as already used. This was in November of 2024. After many emails to support I bought another license (I could dispute with my credit card company if the code did not work) -- the system sent it and it worked up until this week... Is this the end? most likely, unless someone smarter than me figures out something to do to the system to "fix" whatever the issue is. Do I think Geniatech will post an update, no way.

Same here! Since upgrading to 15.4 EyeTV 4.0.0 (8532) is not working anymore. As Niels Riis said, ever rotating wheel. Is there a fix in sight?

We need a new company that is better than Geniatech. Is there anything out there that has better customer support and better software? When Geniatech loses customers and money they might do better or go out of business. Eyetv used to be great now it sucks. I won't recommend this platform until they change.

I find Geniatech is not good at interactive user support. I strongly suspect that before installing EyeTV 4, everyone ought to first use their EyeTV Reporter tool to remove all traces of EyeTV 3.x. That is what I had to do -- years ago -- to successfully install EyeTV 4. With that caveat, EyeTV 4 (8531) works for me on both an M2 Mini and an i5 MBP, running MacOS 13.6.1 on the Mini and 12.latest on the MBP and using an (ATSC, not DVB-T/T2) Hybrid USB stick. EyeTV 4 still is a bit quirky, compared with EyeTV 3, especially in editing, but it works well enough for my purposes.
