There may be other promising signs. Previously eyeTV 4.0 was listed on the sales page as "unavailable". Today I noticed that it can now be added to the cart. Of course it might all be a mistake. I'd like to think Geniatech has started investing some resources into continuing with the product. I'd really like to think that.

That's a positive spin on the situation. Having said that, I think it might be a bit generous. Hiring Chinese-English translators is not expensive and the material isn't complicated. Just having an 0.1 update released more than once in (well, who knows as we are still waiting for 4.0.1) shouldn't be too much to ask. Personally I'm a fan of the app. However I am unable to upgrade my folks' Mini to Monterey+ as the remotes don't work with the new version. Lots of little problems which one would imagine are quickly solvable if anybody was still developing it. And I certainly can't recommend anybody buy it if it feels like it may be discontinued.

My guess would be to run them after the script. I'm thinking they would be run after the script as my understanding is the script puts the files into the appropriate places on the computer, then the code sign additions (the commands we're talking about here) make the files acceptable to GateKeeper. At which point the very last line is opening the programme (alternatively open in Finder as you normally would). I'd also like to add that the lines beginning with the hash(#) aren't required (being comments) in case you were tempted to add them.

Frameworks in the System Library folder are not user editable. However my guess is by virtue of the way Unix works, you should be able to put it either in your /Library folder (i.e. as opposed to /System/Library) or in your home folder Library. I've not tried it myself but think I'll give it a go in the coming days.

Additional information is that the missing library relates to firewire audio interfaces. Also the specific mentioned file doesn't exist at that path in Monterey, the framework itself does exist. But not in Ventura (beta 3).

Running 4.0.0 (8526) on an Intel 2018 (i7) Mac mini with the beta OS, eyeTV crashes saying it is unable to find the library /System/Library/Frameworks/FWAUserLib.framework/Versions/A/FWAUserLib. Interestingly, I'm unable to find a file at that path under Monterey either. Hope this isn't the end of the road for eyeTV on Mac. NB No, I've not bothered to submit a bug report as it appears Geniatech don't read them anyway.

I've recently purchased a LG TV which has DLNA capabilities. When I browse the network it shows my two eyeTV computers (eyeTV3 & eyeTV4) labelled as "eyeConnect" and presents me with a "music" folder, but no TV recordings. My understanding is that eyeConnect no longer comes with eyeTV, but perhaps nobody told it? Does anyone know whether streaming to a TV in this manner is possible? Would be nice to record on my small iMac screen but display on the big screen. Note Airplay isn't an option as the iMac has macOS 10.12 and doesn't provide the option.

I am amazed you have so many problem. I have experienced very few of these. I get different ones. 😂 For the sound issue, I find the quickest fix is to switch sound output and then back (or not back if the first switch fixes it). For skip jumping to the end of the recording, I find shift-jump works but not practical. Haven't figured out the pattern to why it affects only some recordings. Currently my issue is with macOS 12.1 where full screen either causes the app to crash or the video to go invisible and no menus work any more. I've given up submitting reports after the first dozen times. I still like the app, and try to imagine how great it could be again once Geniatech invest some time into bringing it up to expected standards. As Dilbert once said "when it's 95% done, you're about half way there."

So there you go oldguy. Hope that answers the question you did ask – eyeTV 4 is stable enough to use on Catalina. Even someone who does his best to dissuade people from purchasing it has to agree that stability is not a problem. Aside from the stability you asked about, other factors which may influence your decision is that the software does behave 'imperfectly' in various situations. For instance, on the odd occasion when watching TV in full screen and you close the window, a dark full screen window remains and you need to use Mission Control to close it. I have also found that sometimes when one channel is recording, you could open a separate recording but find it will not play. Lastly, there are occasions where the audio won't play when watching a recording, the solution being to change the audio output and then back again. Oh, almost forgot one annoying thing. Irrespective of the preference setting, when a scheduled recording launches the programme it often opens up a TV window. Find that quite a problem when the TV suddenly starts playing at 2am and wakes everyone up. 😳 No other issues come to mind at this time. Hopefully that information was more along the lines of what you were looking for. 😎

There are a few people who are quite negative about it because they expected to get free updates for life, but myself I have been moderately pleased with it. Certainly isn't a polished product with a few issues (hopefully more updates coming) but it is stable. Don't think it has crashed on my in the last 6 months.

You've lost me. Unclear whether you are arguing for or against the topic, or even referring to it. Continuing to sell an in demand product along with appropriate software is a good thing isn't it? Would you be able to expand on your statement?

If you want to get legal, a claim of misleading advertising is only relevant if the inaccurate information was available to the purchaser at the time of purchase. If it wasn't, then they didn't purchase the item based on that advertising so there is no recourse. My thoughts are logical. Which admittedly may appear weird to some who don't think that way. You are grasping at straws, and they are breaking.

That claim (on the website) should now be corrected as it is inaccurate. Anyone purchasing the software in the last two months and then discovering it didn't work with Catalina would be entitled to claim a refund because of incorrect advertising. IS that what you did? Did you just buy this product and find out it didn't work? I think not. So do us a favour and stop playing victim in need of compensation when in reality you are the crying child hoping someone will give you something you haven't earned. So do I need more than that line? Sure I do. I would like you to find anywhere where Geniatech has publicly announced they would have the 64-bit software ready by the release of the new macOS. IF you can find that, I will change my stance immediately and agree with you. However, until then, all I hear is a baby crying.
