  1. Hi Rick,

It does seem that I have an EU version. See attached picture. I bought mine second hand online. With this one, EyeTV 4 (4.0.0 (8526) - Which is actually (8527) but doesn't say so) works pretty well.

The latest download says 8527 in the download link, but that's the only version that supposedly works with Monterey. The update was very confusing indeed, and had a little odd instructions, which you need to follow.. The explanation I got from EyeTV tech support was, well, kind of out of this world. The most confusing explanation I've heard with my 34 years as an IT professional.

I hope you will find a way to get this to work.

    Stefan

Thank you for taking the time to research this discrepancy on the version number, that is much appreciated. I don't think I'm going to go through the effort of the uninstall with the EyeTV Report App, since it still shows as 8526 when you did that.

I am also in IT, and couldn't agree more with you on your frustrations. But I'm going to hold off on updating to Monterey for the time being. While there are still bugs, I don't have any jittering that others are complaining about. Apple is still supporting Big Sur, so I'm going to wait a while.

    Thanks again Stefan!

    You're welcome 🙂

I did take the leap now. Everything seems to work just fine. No stuttering, Lipsync seems a bit improved. But I had gone through the hoops of unsintalling with 64-bit Eyetv-Reporter and then restarting the machine before installing the 8527 (heh... 8526 "improved").

Yes, that is a new version number that they recently posted, and I just installed it yesterday. But when I open the app and look at the version number, it is still showing as 8526... so there is something wrong.

I was in contact with Geniatech support about this matter. I got very confusing answers. Like this: "Version 8527 (This is an advanced 8526, although its name still shows version 8526. But it is version 8527)".

The trick was to completely uninstall the current version of EyeTV using the 64-bit Eyetv-Reporter app.

    The link for it: https://www.geniatech.eu/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/64-BIT-Eyetv-Reporter.zip

Then install the the "new" version (8527 -  that actually in no way show that this is version 8527, only 8526 is shown...???). I am really chocked about the way that the software development has stalled so totally. Lots of bugs and errors still present. App has been on version 4.0.0 (which actually in practice means Beta) for over 2 years.

Problem is, that there is absolutely NO WAY to confirm, that you have installed a new version. In my 30+ years of being an IT professional I have NEVER seen an update to a commercial app handled so poorly.

I am still considering upgrading my MacMini M1 to Monterey.  I'm using EyeTV Hybrid. Had to "downgrade" from Diversity, as I am now on optic cable, and I got the info that Diversity won't work with optic cable.

  4. I have just moved from antenna TV (Elgato Diversity) to cable TV (Elegato Hybrid).  I am using MacOS Catalina.

And now my program Guide is a mess. Channels 1-24 are on the top, but actually useless, while the cable channels start from number 100, but are on line 25.

I have tried to get the cable channels in the same order as the antenna channels were.

I only want to see only the cable channels, no need for antenna channels.

    Is there a way?

This awfully bug-ridden app (worst I have ever seen in my 32 years as a Mac professional). EyeTV 3 had its quirks, but this is a completely different animal altogether.

Is there anyone at Geniatech who actually developes EyeTV 4?

Been using EyeTV for over 10 years now. I do love the concept.
