About Me

  1. Hi, I have a uniciable configuration with 4 frequencies, connected to Port 1 on 4Sat. Sometimes when I switch to a new channel (Click on the program guide) on my Mac (actually EyeTV 4, 8524, MacOS 11.3, happened on all versions before) I get sometimes a new window a "no signal" message. If I take my iPhone with the Netstream app, I see, the config is reset to Quad Multi. I have to change to unicable, activate all 4 channels manually and it works again. This happens approx once a month. Any Ideas? Dirk
  2. Setting up EyeTV Netstream 4Sat on a Mac with a Unicable LNB. Firstly make sure that your Mac is connected at Gigabit Ethernet speed. The way to check this is to go here- /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/Network Utility Make sure that your Link speed is 1 Gbit/s. Download EyeTv reporter here https://www.geniatech.eu/faq/wie-nutze-ich-das-eyetv-reporter-dienstprogramm/ Run it and using the easy command - delete all previous eyetv and elgato software. You need an iOS device for the next stage. Go to the app store and download the netstream app. Make sure your Netstream4sat device is connected to the same network as your wifi router and Mac. Then go to settings - LNB setup and put in the make and model of your unicable LNB Note that you connect the satellite cable to input Sat 1. Also note that the software does not automatically fill in the values for Tuners 2, 3 &4. I do not know if it is necessary to do this to be able to record two channels simultaneously. It did not use to be the case, but this is how mine looks now. Check on your iOS device that you can watch live TV. Back to your Mac, install the latest version of the eyetv software https://www.geniatech.eu/support/eyetv-3-en/ Install and run the installer. It should find the device Automatically. Run auto tune and wait 20 minutes for it to do a scan. Ensure the satellite setup is as follows - You should then be able to record two channels simultaneously on your Mac, whilst two other devices can watch live TV on their iPad or iPhone. What if you want to record 4 channels at the same time? There is an error in Geniatech’s manual, the correct command to use in terminal is host:~ username$ defaults write com.elgato.eyetv 'max SAT2IP tuners' -int 4 You have to use ‘ and not “.before and after max SAT2IP tuners. This was done with a late 2012 iMac, connected to a gigabit network. . Notes: The web site tells you this - Unicable: One Unicable output is connected to port 1 of EyeTV Netstream 4Sat -> 1 – 4 channels depending on the number of available User Bands. The User Bands have to be configured correctly in the EyeTV Netstreamapp settings. What is the “correct configuration”? How does one find out? The files are rather large, so if you are recording to an external hard disk make sure you have a fast connection - Thunderbolt, USB 3.0 are good ones to use. EyeTV takes a long time to load and is also much slower at changing channels than older Elgato satellite devices I have owned. I was experiencing problems with an older iMac, that used to work well, but after a system software “upgrade” from Apple, the ethernet port will not work at gigabits speed anymore. A great update for this device would be a Thunderbolt 3 port that you can connect a hard drive to where the device could save the recordings to, rather than going through the Mac.
