Great Geniatech, but it is Intel code ... Its hard to recompile all and have the M-soc Apple code??

Hi Pippo, sounds good but why do we have to download this fix by clicking on an uncontrolled external link? Sorry to say but this would be a great way to distribute manipulated software (malware). Doesn't sound serious and I would really prefer to get this fix via the official Geniatech website. The fact that they not even changed the release number is a sign of a rather quick and dirty fix. However, it would be great if it really works. Can you confirm that all is fine, please? Txs and regards, Roland

Sorry, Pippo, my reply should have been addressed to the user delacroix, of course. Regards, Roland

PROBLEM SOLVED - PLEASE READ

OK people, problem solved. Geniatech supplied me with an updated version, which now works perfectly on my Mac Studio M1 Max with Venture 13.0. Yes, I know it is marked version 8528 but I presume it must be an updated copy of that version or something. The 8528 version from the website didn't work for me, but the 8528 version via the Mega link worked perfectly.

Here is the link:

Thank you so much to Geniatech for resolving my ticket so quickly!

Hi Delacroix, sounds good but why do we have to download this fix by clicking on an uncontrolled external link? Sorry to say but this would be an excellent way to distribute manipulated software (malware). To me this doesn't sound serious and I would really prefer to get this fix via the official Geniatech website, together with an explaining statement. The fact that they not even changed the release number is a sign of a rather quick and dirty fix. However, it would be great if it really works. Can you confirm that all is fine, please? I re-did yesterday's tries using these steps EXACTLY as Pippo detailed. EyeTV is now working, thanks!

Remember to save the script and the frame lib to your "Downloads" folder.

The password should be the same password you set for the (admin) user that you are "logged" into on your Mac.

I a not (yet) on Apple silicon, just old fashioned Intel i7, 2017 iMac. Waiting for a proper 27" iMac, just like I am waiting for the f#$ing EPG to work again with EyeTV. 😑

Why are you continuing with this?? 😐

Geniatech have RESOLVED the Ventura issues.  Just download the version from the Mega link that they sent me, as I posted above. You will save yourself a great deal of stress 😛

Hi Roland. Completely understand. I don't really have a way to confirm that I'm not some kind of hacker 😀

I got the link from Geniatech today after I emailed them. Here's a screenshot of part of an email chain I have with the guys at Geniatech (see attached).

Your scepticism is reasonable because you don't know me whatsoever, but I think you may be able to see my posts from a year or two ago where we had a similar issue with a previous OS upgrade (I forget which). I tried to help then as well.

Just trying to be helpful now because I know how very annoying it is for EyeTV not to work on Mac because we have hardly any other options for live TV on our systems.

I appreciate all the guys on here who have helped with the frameworks and Terminal commands, but I just couldn't get those to work so I just went straight to Geniatech instead and thank goodness it's all now resolved. As to why this exact version is not the one on the Geniatech website itself, I have asked them about this but they haven't replied, so at the moment I have no idea. All I know is, it works perfectly.

Please note, I also used EyeTV Reporter (downloadable from Geniatech site) to delete my installation first and all my preferences before installing the version from the Mega link. I don't know if that is necessary or not, but I wanted a clean start, and when I installed the new version, not only did it stop the crashing on Ventura but I can now watch HD channels without the weird stuttering that forced me to watch SD-only channels for the last two years!! I'm not sure if that is because of the new version or because I deleted my preferences and started again.

So, all in all, a good day's fixing!

Hope it resolves your issues, too.

This worked for me. For reference, machine is Intesl iMac 27", 2020. Stuttering on one HD channel previously also gone. I simply installed over existing installation with no issue.

Thanks for posting the link, delacroix.

You manipulated a quote from a post that didn't mention any link. The quote linked back to a different post. Anyway, I don't care really. If it helps people get the version that is compatible with Ventura and which doesn't need any playing around in Terminal, then I'm happy!

As to my post above, addressed to Roland, I've checked and the last time I helped people was with comms around the much-delayed 64-bit version of eyeTV that we were absolutely desperate to have so we could upgrade our OSs. No doubt I'll be back next year when Apple releases their next OS, sticking my nose in 😀

Great news, Ross! I would be rather embarrassed if that version only worked for me!

Soooo sorry Bobby, you didn't manipulate anything! I thought I was replying to GBO! He did a weird thing where he made it look like he shared that Mega link from Geniatech before I shared it... Not sure why he did that. Maybe just to make himself look good. Doesn't help that I am tired and need to go to bed.

It's a very good question! I've asked them but they haven't replied to me yet.

Came here after updating my iMac to Ventura and TV Eye crashing.  Downloaded the updated version of 8528 and it worked! Didn't need to do anything else (so far) but thank you to everyone.

Hi Roland,

Did you try the app from the MEGA link? I assure you it is perfectly safe, it came from the Geniatech team itself. It will sort out all your problems. Several forum members have since confirmed that they have used it and it works.

It worked on my M1 iMac just upgraded to Ventura.  Will try on my intel MacBook Pro next.

Let us know how it works in Intel.

I installed the Mega link file and the app is now running for me. I'm using a 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i3 MacMini.

But damn, it feels dodgy getting the file from Mega.

Glad it is working out now for you.

Yes, it would be preferable to download directly from the Geniatech website, however Mega links are fine if you trust the uploader. In this case, the link came straight from Geniatech itself.

The program works well on my M1 iMac, but only worked sporadically on my intel MacBook Pro before going back to the crash screen every time it was opened.

And you have Ventura on both your M1 and Intel machines?
