dbc 1 Report post Posted April 6, 2025 Alternatives to eyetv on Mac? I'd hate to move away from EyeTV, but you never know when the devs might pull the plug. Anyone seen a viable alternative? Regards, David
Jeff95630 2 Report post Posted April 6, 2025 I've been experimenting with an HDMI splitter to strip HDCP from my Comcast HDMI output before sending it to an Elgato (yes really, Elgato 😞 ) HD60 X video capture device. The HD60 X connects to the Mac over USB. Using OBS Studio as the viewing/recording software. Having trouble finding a splitter which TRULY strips HDCP. I'll try a few more splitters before trying a component video to HDMI converter to avoid HDCP entirely. Should be able to tap the YPbPr connections from the Comcast TV box, convert them to HDMI and send that unencrypted video signal the video converter card. Best I'd be able to do is 1080i 30FPS. Not ideal but better than nothing. Would much prefer an HDMI solution. I'd love to hear if anyone has found a good solution until Geniatech can address this. And I hope they'll make it a PRIORITY.
