wunderfitz_FR 5 Report post Posted August 6, 2025 Anyone had the guts to update to macOS 15.6 yet? I just haven't the appetite anymore to update macOS until I know... it will not break eyeTV 4.0.0. (8532), OR there's finally going to be a company entering the OS X market for this sort of USB Tuner stick plus appropriate software.... I'll shell out Euros to get a new USB stick, new software, and a functional EPG. After all, I hear in the news that lots of people are cancelling their streaming subscriptions because providers are too fragmented and are getting increasingly greedy?! Who knows? Perhaps Linear TV will rise from the dead after all. 'Cause when you cancel that streaming subscription, your right to re-visit a good movie / TV show is gone, right? My collection, recorded with eyeTV - on the other hand - is mine to keep... While I wholeheartedly hate Geniatech with every fibre of my body, I love the 40 TB movie and TV show collection I've built with the product they acquired from Elgato in Germany, IN SPITE of Geniatech. Gosh - why can no one convince Elgato or Hauppauge to (re-)enter the Mac market? There's money in it and Geniatech clearly doesn't care about it, and might even be relieved if someone acquires that specific product and develops that market. I feel like such a hostage... Shagberg 2 Report post Posted August 8, 2025 I'm on Sequoia 15.6 since the day it was released and have had no issues with EyeTV 4 (I'm still running it with an Intel Mac mini), EyeTV version 4.0.0 (8532). I'm less concerned about the macOS updates that Apple releases this late into the release cycle; they are much less likely to break something as compared to the first few versions of a new operating system. You can be assured that I won't be upgrading to Tahoe on the day it is released, however!
wiseling 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2025 I run EyeTV 4.0.0 (8532) on a MacBook Pro (Apple M1 chip) with an EyeTV2 Hybrid DVB-T/T2/C. I upgraded to Sequoia 15.6 last week and immediately had problems getting EyetV to function. I eventually got it to run by following advice in this forum (involving the use of Sentinel and the reconfiguration of extension settings) but the process was so exhausting and belaboured that I'm unable to remember all the steps involved or to differentiate between those that were vital and those that were irrelevant. Sorry folks. For those that do get it to run, however, I may have a solution for those experiencing another problem. For although I could get EyeTV to function normally as far as viewing programmes and even recording them, I couldn't get recording to halt automatically, and manually stopping recordings caused the program to crash. A google search suggested a number of steps to remedy this (changing input ports; changing cables; checking EyeTV extension etc.). These are the ones that worked for me. 1- Use EyeTV Helper to uninstall EyeTV, download a new version and start again from scratch 2 - In EyeTV preferences under Recording, set EyeTV location to an external disk 3 - In EyeTV preferences under Recording, set Live TV buffer to zero (which then seems to default to 10MB on subsequent restart) 4 - In EyeTV preferences under Guide, set service to None (in the UK, this ensures that the DVB guide is used) 5 - In EyeTV preferences under EyeTV sharing, untick all sharing boxes 6 - Close EyeTV and restart I suspect steps 1, 2, 4 and 6 are the most critical and that 3 and 5 might be optional, but I'm not experimenting any more because this configuration works and that's good enough for me. Hope it works for others too
