    Firmware Update

For the EyeTV Netstream 4C, the firmware update does not work the same way as it does with the EyeTV Netstream DTT and the EyeTV Netstream Sat. There is no web interface involved. In both the EyeTV Netstream app and EyeTV the firmware can be updated: EyeTV Netstream App: You will be prompted to update on app launch if the firmware is outdated EyeTV: In EyeTV Preferences> Devices there will be an update button if the firmware is outdated

  14. EyeTV Diversity has two tuners, that can be used in Diversity or Dual-Tuner mode. EyeTV Diversity accepts no analog inputs of any kind. It is only for receiving DTT (DVB-T, TNT, Freeview) signals in many European countries, and Australia. Dual-Tuner Mode In Dual-Tuner mode, EyeTV Diversity becomes two conventional DTT receivers in one. It’s the only EyeTV product that enables you to watch two live TV channels Picture-in-Picture, or watch one show while you record another. You can also record two separate channels at the same time. Dual-Tuner mode is only active when two separate antennas/aerials are connected. If only one aerial is connected, then only one tuner will be active. However, you can split the output of one aerial, so that a separate signal runs into each input of EyeTV Diversity. In that way, you could use both tuners with just one aerial, to receive two separate channels at the same time. You will need an MCX to RF coaxial adapter to attach a standard coaxial cable to the tuner input on the side of EyeTV Diversity. Diversity Mode In Diversity mode, the two integrated tuners are set to the same frequency. EyeTV Diversity contains a Digital Signal Processor (DSP), which uses information from both tuners to generate the best signal possible. The result of this Antenna Diversity (AD) and multi-tuner technology is superb reception deep indoors, in weak DTT coverage areas, and at high speeds. In tests, the technology provided good reception in 95% of locations within the home (compared with 67% for conventional receivers), and a 50% improvement in the quality of the television signal. EyeTV Diversity is ideal for travelers. The ultra-compact device and portable antennas pack easily with a MacBook (warning: the base of the antennas is magnetic), and mobile reception is possible at speeds up to 160 km/h provided there is uninterrupted DTT coverage en route. Diversity mode is only active when two separate antennas/aerials are connected. If only one aerial is connected, then Diversity mode will not be available. Single Antenna Mode There also is a Single Antenna mode, which only uses one tuner.
  15. EyeTV Diversity comes with two antennas/aerials. Small “portable” aerials are suitable for receiving DTT (DVB-T, TNT, Freeview) signals in many European countries. EyeTV Diversity has two tuners, that can be used separately (to receive two separate channels), or in Diversity mode, to both receive the same channel, but with extra amplification of the signal. Thus, two small aerials are included in the package for use with both modes. Dual-Tuner Mode Even if you live in an area with strong DTT reception, EyeTV Diversity is an attractive choice. In Dual-Tuner mode, EyeTV Diversity becomes two conventional DTT receivers in one. It’s the only EyeTV product that enables you to watch two live TV channels Picture-in-Picture, or watch one show while you record another. Single Antenna Mode There also is a Single Antenna mode, which only uses one tuner. EyeTV Diversity might not work with DTT in some locations. Coverage will always be unique to the type and strength of DTT signals in each area. You may need to use a larger aerial, either table-top or roof-top, to properly receive some signals – this depends on your particular situation.
  16. EyeTV Diversity is designed to be simple to setup and use. To ensure that all aspects of the EyeTV Diversity are understood, here is a discussion of the hardware. The dark end of the EyeTV Diversity is a plastic cap, protecting the male USB 2.0 plug. That can be connected directly to an USB port on your Mac, or a small USB 2.0 extension cable can be used (included with EyeTV Diversity). The opposite end of the EyeTV Diversity is the first Tuner input, with a connector for a coaxial cable. That is for one of the two included aerials/antennas. Each side of the EyeTV Diversity has a small feature. One side is an IR receiver (which does not illuminate like a light), and the other side is a the second Tuner input, to which you can connect the second included aerial/antenna. EyeTV Diversity does not have any light on it, so no part will illuminate to indicate if it’s on or off. EyeTV Diversity accepts no analog inputs of any kind. It is only for receiving DTT (DVB-T, TNT, Freeview) signals in many European countries, and Australia. You can switch between Dual Tuner and Diversity model in the EyeTV Diversity section of the Devices Preferences for EyeTV (accessible from the EyeTV menu > Preferences > Devices).
  17. Yes. You can split the output of one aerial, so that a separate signal runs into each input of EyeTV Diversity. In that way, you could use both tuners with just one aerial, to receive two separate channels at the same time. You will need an MCX to RF coaxial adapter to attach a standard coaxial cable to the small tuner input on the side of EyeTV Diversity. Using a small aerial to power both tuners may not be ideal. This may work best with an larger aerial, perhaps an outdoor one. Amplification might also be needed to compensate for the split signal, to ensure good reception with both tuners. EyeTV Diversity can not power amplified antennas directly. When choosing an amplified antenna, please choose one with separate power supply.
  18. No. EyeTV Diversity is only for receiving DTT (DVB-T, TNT, Freeview) signals in many European countries, and Australia. It will not function in North America at all. North American digital TV over antenna is known as ATSC, so you will need a product that can receive that standard.

  21. EyeTV Hybrid, and other products that offer uncompressed analog video, can use a feature called “Timeshift” to create a Live TV Buffer. That buffer allows you to pause and manipulate Live TV. It also creates a delay of over a second for live signals. This lag means that a change to the signal will take some time for EyeTV to display. If you are playing video games, using the Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 3, or other consoles, then you should turn off the Timeshift feature, in the EyeTV Preferences > Devices > Analog > Encoding section. When Timeshift is not enabled, you will have a very small delay of a few milliseconds, which is good for gameplay.

  23. EyeTV Mobile uses the iPad 2 battery for most of its power needs. It also has a small, internal battery as well. If EyeTV Mobile’s internal battery does become fully drained, then connect EyeTV Mobile to a computer or USB power adapter to recharge it. One example of a USB power adapter is what Apple provides to charge an iPod or iPhone via a power outlet. That will also work with EyeTV Mobile, as will other USB power adapters.
  24. The EyeTV Mobile hardware cannot connect to EyeTV software on any Mac. The EyeTV Mobile app for iPad 2 cannot connect to EyeTV software on any Mac. The EyeTV Mobile hardware is an iOS product, and the EyeTV Mobile app for iPad 2 can connect solely to the EyeTV Mobile hardware.
