It's 'working' for me in macOS 14.2.  Still crashed when I quit, but plays and records stuff.  Still weirds me out that command+w does not close a window.  Seems like pretty basic stuff.

    Thank you.

I’m still on macOS 13, and it also crashes for me every time I close the app.

M2 Pro mini, 14.1.1, 4.0.0 (8532), EyeTV HD, USA,  woks fine for me. Whatever the previous version did as well, no problems. I am still pissed though about the guide DOA all these years. 😠

Thanks for confirming the Sonoma update, Bob.

About the TV guide capability: are you aware that there is an option of importing TV data from other sources? I use XML TV Listings. It isn't free (I pay $20/year for the data) and you have to be somewhat technical to implement it, but it does work reliably.

    Here are the instructionshttps://www.xmltvlistings.com/help/guides/eyetv

I also found this forum thread helpful in implementing it:

I've downloaded and reinstalled build 8528 but still get the same problem,  Anyone have any ideas as to what to try next?

    Have you tried Build 8531

Based on past macOS versions, Geniatech is slow to release EyeTV updates for compatibility. But glad to hear that TheMats84 had success.

I was in contact with Geniatech support about this matter. I got very confusing answers. Like this: "Version 8527 (This is an advanced 8526, although its name still shows version 8526. But it is version 8527)".

The trick was to completely uninstall the current version of EyeTV using the 64-bit Eyetv-Reporter app.

    The link for it: https://www.geniatech.eu/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/64-BIT-Eyetv-Reporter.zip

Then install the the "new" version (8527 -  that actually in no way show that this is version 8527, only 8526 is shown...???). I am really chocked about the way that the software development has stalled so totally. Lots of bugs and errors still present. App has been on version 4.0.0 (which actually in practice means Beta) for over 2 years.

Problem is, that there is absolutely NO WAY to confirm, that you have installed a new version. In my 30+ years of being an IT professional I have NEVER seen an update to a commercial app handled so poorly.

I am still considering upgrading my MacMini M1 to Monterey.  I'm using EyeTV Hybrid. Had to "downgrade" from Diversity, as I am now on optic cable, and I got the info that Diversity won't work with optic cable.

Thank you for taking the time to research this discrepancy on the version number, that is much appreciated. I don't think I'm going to go through the effort of the uninstall with the EyeTV Report App, since it still shows as 8526 when you did that.

I am also in IT, and couldn't agree more with you on your frustrations. But I'm going to hold off on updating to Monterey for the time being. While there are still bugs, I don't have any jittering that others are complaining about. Apple is still supporting Big Sur, so I'm going to wait a while.

    Thanks again Stefan!

Well, this link leads to version 8527 which reports stability fixes for Monterey. But haven't tried it since I still use Eye TV 4 (8526) with Big Sur (and have no problems and don't miss 3.6.9 at all):

Yes, that is a new version number that they recently posted, and I just installed it yesterday. But when I open the app and look at the version number, it is still showing as 8526... so there is something wrong.

I can not understand why they do not fix the last few but very annoying errors and bugs. iPhone access still does not work.

Agreed! And the fact that they still don't have the physical EyeTV remote working yet is unacceptable.

Thanks for the feedback on Monterey.

  7. @AngryUser53 Thank you - for me, EyeTV 4 runs well on Big Sur. But after the @mpbraendle comment, I'm going to hold off on upgrading for the time.

Did you consult support through the online form? https://www.geniatech.eu/support-contact/?Product=eyetv 4 macOS

I've used it in the past and received prompt responses.

Thank you, thank you @mpbraendle! Appreciate the response.
