  1. Eyetv Netstream 4sat recording problems

    Hi,

Mac Pro 2013 with Monterey 12.7.1 newest version. EyeTV Sat and alternately Eyetv Netstream 4sat connected to sat1.

In both cases Diseq1.0 with 3 transponders connected. All scanned channels are recognised and appear ok.

Like previous versions howver, build 8531 still often crashes when changing a channel list.

Trying out Eyetv Netstream 4sat led to the same problem as well as a more serious second problem:

Recording is very erratic and often  second blank window appears.

Sometimes works, sometimes not -- even for 2 conscutive programs on the same channel.

Eyetv Netstream 4sat is thus unusable for recording.

    SOftware needs a vigorous overhaul/

    Regards,

  2. Hi,

All of sudden this afternoon, 4th Feb 2023, Astra 19.3 appears instead of Astra 19.2 (as before) in the satellite list.

I am using newest Eyetv  4.0.0 (8528) which has run more or less ok over the last months.

MacOS: Ventura 12.6.3 up to date.

I tried running the identical Eyetv 4 on my MacBook Pro, same MacOS. The same problem emerges.

The setup assistant now only lists Astra 19.3. My stored favourite channels are no longer recognised.

Now I cannot access any Astra 19.2 channel, even though I can receive Hotbird 13.0 and Freesat 28.2. channels.

What's going on here? Please advise/remedy.

  3. Hi,

As already notified, using the newest eyetv4 version 8526 (unable to get listed 8537!!) on Mac Monterey  OS 12.5.1, after scanning astra 19.2, I selected entries from the All Channels list and put them into a favorites list.
I then scanned Astra 28.2. However the  All Channels list still contained only the previous Astra 19 programs. There seemed to be no way to access the 28.2. channels. Very frustrating for those whose have multiple satellite transponders.

    SOLUTION:

First select all existing All Channels programs and save them to a favorites list e.g.19A

Then click Select Devices—Tuning—Satellite Setup and set all Satellites to "Not Used" except the new one to be scanned.

Note: Maybe the Eytev Setup Assistent needs to be then called up. This does not delete already generated Favorites lists.

Then scan and choose new channels from the now new All Channels list saving them into a new favorites list e.g. 28A.

After that again  Select Devices—Tuning—Satellite Setup and change all other available satellites back to their original setting.

    No need to rescan.

In the same way new All Channels lists can then be used to make further favorite lists.

In would be good if Geniatech could rectify this purely software bug.
By the way, apart from occasional crashes when changing from one favorites list to another, Eyetv4 works ok under Monterey 12.5.1 on my Mac Pro (late 2013)..

From my personal use of EyeTV products over the last 10 years and posts on this forum it would appear that there is insufficient resources to maintain what is a fairly complicated product (EyeTV) which is heavily interdependent on hardware which is itself dependant on changes in broadcast standards changes that Geniatech has no control over.

It is likely that Elgato Systems was aware of this and was struggling to match income stream with the necessary expenditure, which is why they sold it.

It is now a choice for Geniatech between spending more money or losing customers. To some extent this process of losing customers can be tolerated as long as those that remain are spending.

Annual paid updates to EyeTV are now probably necessary with free bug correction updates in between. But in reality, how can paid updates be justified without perceived improvements? It is difficult when you heavily dependant on the outside world of TV and satellite broadcasting. Only when they make improvements or changes is it easy to charge for a new version,

Clearly supporting IOS and OS X is an extra burden. Apple Silicon will alleviate that to some extent, although the process will take some years before the bulk of MAC customers are actually using Apple Silicon.

From my perspective, the future for EyeTV does not look particularly promising.

    Hi,

As already notified to geniatech, using the latest eyetv4 on Mac Pro  OS 12.5, and having scanned astra 19 and selected a favorites list which worked ok, I then scanned Astra 28.2.  Many stations were found but there seems to be no way to access them. The All Channels list still contained only the previous Astra 19 programs. Strangely this was not so earlier, but even after uninstalling eyetv4 and a reinstall, the problem persists.

This is is clearly a simple software matter. I wonder when I can expect a reply from Geniatech !!!

Also the website report the newest version as 8627 the newly downloaded program is designated 8626.
