EyeTv NOT WORKING LAST 2-3 MONTHS

EyeTv NOT WORKING LAST 2 MONTHS

My EyeTV has stopped working on my Mac computer for the past 2 - 3 months now, I have been in communiqué with the engineers and support team from EyeTV since January but they have come up with no solution so far! it's most annoying, in previous years, their support was very good, but now it is lacking in resolving issues, this seems to be dragging on relentlessly, and I am beginning to lose confidence completely !!!  I purchased the 64 bit version from them a few years back, but now they cannot seem to fix my problem, I have had countless remote support from them but to not avail, if they cannot fix then they should replace!!

Hi, Thanks for the reply, I have been communicating with EyeTV since beginning of January, as my EYTV4 on my Mac computer does not work anymore, although I've been in contact with them many times with the remote support, they have not remedied the situation, the online support is also very poor, as they do not communicate as well as they used to do a few years back, it also doesn't help that I live in England and there is an 8 hour time difference from England to China, so far their engineers have not come up with any proper solutions, and although they say they're trying to help, I really cannot see that, it's most upsetting, since I paid for the 64-bit version a few years back, and now it doesn't work at all.

This morning, for the first time in 8 weeks the EyeTV assistant started up and was running through the procedure to get it working, but then it asked for an activation key, which I do not have, or I cannot find, I have the original activation key when I originally purchased the product (that activation key doesn't work), but the activation key for the 64-bit version, I have not got, or cannot find, I have sent a WhatsApp message to one of their engineers called Kelly, to tell them about the recent progress that happened this morning, however, they are closed on Saturday I think and maybe Sunday too, I have not had a response from the WhatsApp messages yet, maybe I will soon.

Because my matter has been dragging on for so long, my confidence with EyeTV, and the support is not very good. I hate to say, it's most disheartening, I have been using EyeTV for 15 years I think, and it's mostly been good, however, in the last 2 to 3 years I would say it's getting weaker and weaker, the support, the assistance is not there anymore, the engineer I've been speaking to call Kelly has been sympathetic and has been very understanding, however, the problem has not been addressed, I really don't feel that they have the technical engineers to help like they used to do, as the solutions they have come up with so far has not been very good at all, about 2 to 3 years ago, when I had to contact their engineers, they were more helpful and they had more solutions to resolve the matter, I remember they fix my problem to 3 years ago, it wasn't a perfect fix, however, they managed to get my EyeTV working again, but on this occasion, it really is not looking good, I'm not very happy at the moment!!

The 64-bit version doesn't work anymore, and despite trying all the different versions, which they've told me to do, that still hasn't solved the problem, as when I download each and every version, it still does not work, and you cannot proceed or progress, I'm waiting to hear from the engineer regarding the EyeTV assistant working for the first time in two months, to see what they have to say to that, I will have to wait till I hear from them via WhatsApp

Stuff like this is why I will always try to have a Mac that still runs EyeTV3. If you can I would try to find someone with a old Mac that you can buy that will run EyeTV 3. Maybe even a friend or family member with an old Mac they aren't using anymore. I've all but given up hope that the new owners of EyeTV will fix things in version 4.

Hi Lenn5, thanks for the info, EyeTV used to be really really good at one time, but I think since it's been taken over a few years back they haven't invested in the business, and the engineers or support that they provide is not that good. I hate to say, they're all nice enough people, but the solution has not been forthcoming and sometimes the solutions are just going round and round in circles, quite disappointed, I don't want to buy an old Mac and run EyeTV3, they cannot fix or remedy the solution with their engineers, then how would that encourage new customers to buy EyeTV, that's what I can't understand maybe it's just not worth their while, considering I paid for the 64-bit version, they should look after me, but don't hold your breath I hear you say!

Is too bad they don't sell it too someone that would really work on it to fix the bugs and continue to update it with new features. Not holding my breath on that either.  lol

🙏

Thanks Lenn5, it's been two months since my EyeTV has worked, and the support has slowed down also, in the last few days I had a EyeTV assistant come up automatically. When I click on EyeTV, this has never happened before in the last 2 months, I've sent the screenshots to the engineers, but they have not responded as yet, when I go through the EyeTV assistant, it then asks for an activation code, unfortunately the only activation code I have is when I originally purchased EyeTv3, and that code doesn't work, when I paid for the 64 bit version in 2020, I think, I don't seem to have an activation code for that, I thought I would've heard back from EyeTV support, but they have not responded as yet, they seem to have read my messages, or at least seen my messages via WhatsApp, but no reply, maybe they're thinking 🤔

Have a look at the screenshots attached if you like

Hi Lenn5

I've noticed on a few other posts that people are having problems with the activation key on EyeTV4, and maybe that's why the engineers have not gotten back to me, I'm just guessing now, you did advise me before that I should just run EyeTV3 but on an old Mac, can you elaborate on that what kind of old Mac should I buy and what operating system should it be on for me to use my EyeTV3 again, would really appreciate your advice

Kind regards Zaf

I think the last version of MacOS that can run EyeTV 3 is either High Sierra or Mojave. I run High Sierra on my 2013 iMac with Eyetv and it works well.  This link shows the Macs that will run on what version of MacOS.
