Br John 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2024 Sequoia 15 MACOSX extension support Elgarto I updated it to 15.1.1 this morning, and a message came up inferring that there will no longer be extension support for Elgarto. Has anyone else received this notification?
Roland B. 19 Report post Posted November 20, 2024 Same here, it doesn't work anymore. By the way: Unfortunately, Elgato is not in charge of EyeTV for quite a long time. They sold EyeTV to Geniatech and Geniatech is not interested in keeping EyeTV 4 for Mac up to date. Some functions had been removed and the software has been totally unstable. Now it doesn't work on all my Macs anymore. It is a shame how the Chinese company is cheating their customers.
eaglerock 5 Report post Posted November 25, 2024 Wait - are you getting the "activation cade is invalidated" message preventing setup, or is EyeTV not launching at all? Lack of extension support has been the coming thing on macOS for several years, as Apple's security restrictions have gotten more severe. A lot of applications have become entirely self-contained, without installing any extensions in the user or system Library. Br John, what is the exact message you're getting? Don't leave anything out. If the application works better under an older operating system, then virtualization may be a usable option. If EyeTV works under macOS 14 but not under macOS 15, then you can use a middleware virtualization application like: Parallels (subscription-based) <https://www.parallels.com> VMWare Fusion (free for personal use) https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleNumber=315638 Oracle VirtualBox (free) <https://www.virtualbox.org> ...and a number of others. Macworld has an article covering several different options: https://www.macworld.com/article/668848/best-virtual-machine-software-for-mac.html The writer's concern is mostly with virtualizing Windows on a Mac, but it's also possible to install/run different versions of macOS (10.7 or later) within the virtualized environment. Br John 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2024 Hi ... I cannot be precise about the exact wording I glimpsed, and if I'd had my wits about me, I would have taken a screenshot to share. However, I recall it saying something like 'future MACOSX updates will not support Elgato extension' ... or words to that effect. For now, I'm not having any issues despite what I have read in this forum. But thank you for the links provided. Should I encounter a problem with the next update, I will investigate.
