michadd 10 Report post Posted April 1 No HD live TV after upgrade to macOS 15.4 I upgraded macOS on my mac mini M2 from 15.3.2 to 15.4. After the upgrade EyeTV 4.0.0 (8532) was not able to stream the German HD programs. SD steaming is working. I'm using an EyeTV T2 Hybrid. Please build a new working version for macOS 15.4. Great thanks for your help.

mfoto 1 Report post Posted April 2 Same here! Since upgrading to 15.4 EyeTV 4.0.0 (8532) is not working anymore. As Niels Riis said, ever rotating wheel. Is there a fix in sight?
paulmacsmurf 4 Report post Posted April 3 (edited) I know this doesn't help, but just to show that this is not a universal problem, it continues to work fine here (except for the long-running "close window before quitting" bug). michadd 10 Report post Posted April 3 @paulmacsmurf Till 15.3.2 it was working w/o any problems except the long bug you described .... Which EyeTV hardware you are using ?

MikeBeato 0 Report post Posted April 4 I'm also having a problem with crashing after upgrading to 15.4. Do you think there is any chance the EyeTV software will be patched? Or is there any other alternative hardware/software with similar capabilities?
Niels Riis 5 Report post Posted April 4 I dont know anything to replace this on a Mac. If we all keep pushing them maybe they will make a patch, but a have my doubts. I have written to them and told them that the right thing to do will be an new and updated maybe 5.0 version that works, and let the users pay a little for the effort, maybe 20 euros or so. Niels Riis 5 Report post Posted April 4 There are DVB-T (air) alternatives, but not any for DVB-C (cable) like i use here.
GeoffPh 5 Report post Posted April 4 Me too; updated to 15.4, and the beach ball is my constant companion. I think I'll go back to 15.3.2, but that's not easy either. I tried the fixes recommended that suggested settings alterations, but my settings were already set that way... then I went to Library, but there was no such animal called Elgato there— or Eyetv, or anything of that nature. Bah!
GeoffPh 5 Report post Posted April 5 Eyetv hangs on playing recordings, too. Some of the clever dudes might be a able to make something out of that. It was sort of interesting that I can't see Elgato in Library >Preferences as suggested earlier. And also that some users have got it working by fiddling a few settings, but my settings were already like that, and here in Australia, Standard Def is a thing of the past. michadd 10 Report post Posted April 5 Update: new location with different HW: Mac mini M1 + EyeTV Sat Free After upgrade the same problem: No HD stream. I used the EyeTV Reporter app to uninstall the EyeTV app. Performed a clean EyeTV installation and setup, but the same bad result 😞 Now I'm back to 15.3.2. I'm out of ideas and the support response = zero 😞 Seems to be that EyeTV is not supported anymore .....
Niels Riis 5 Report post Posted April 5 Google search "sentinel, mac" Choose MacUpdate and download "Sentinel" Open it and add (drag) your EyeTv App into sentinel. Magic happens. Niels Riis, Denmark
GeoffPh 5 Report post Posted April 5 Hey Michadd, How did you get back to 15.3.2?, and Has anybody else gone down the Sentinal track? TIA GeoffPh
Jeff95630 2 Report post Posted April 5 Same here. Have been running EyeTV with an ancient Hybrid box (component video input) on Mac for literally decades, as recently as version 4 (8532) on McOS 15.3 on my Mac Studio. Updated to 15.4 the other night and wheel of death, like others here. Geniatech has historically been slow to react, so I'll check out the workarounds mentioned here. Just wanted to log a ME TOO. Jeff95630 2 Report post Posted April 5 I've been experimenting with an HDMI splitter to strip HDCP from my Comcast HDMI output before sending it to an Elgato (yes really, Elgato 😞 ) HD60 X video capture device. The HD60 X connects to the Mac over USB. Using OBS Studio as the viewing/recording software. Having trouble finding a splitter which TRULY strips HDCP. I'll try a few more splitters before trying a component video to HDMI converter to avoid HDCP entirely. Should be able to tap the YPbPr connections from the Comcast TV box, convert them to HDMI and send that unencrypted video signal the video converter card. Best I'd be able to do is 1080i 30FPS. Not ideal but better than nothing. Would much prefer an HDMI solution. I'd love to hear if anyone has found a good solution until Geniatech can address this. And I hope they'll make it a PRIORITY. Jeff95630 2 Report post Posted April 6 Me personaly, NO to Sentinel. I've heard too many horror stories, both on Windows and Mac. I'll either find a hardware solution to work with OBS or W-A-I-T for an EyeTV fix.

I was nervous about by-passing a security certificate that Apple had set up, but to go back to an old OS is like putting a bucket under a drip... so I used Sentinel, and fixed the drip. And I'm rather smug now, that I did. The spirit of cooperation on these forums makes the world a better place. Thanks Niels, and everybody. GeoffPh PS: It's hard to work out, but I think I've used Eyetv for over twenty years, and there's no alternative here in Australia. To lose it would be a serious inconvenience.
