Incompatibility with MacOS 13 (Ventura) Beta

Recommended Posts

Drat!

I downloaded and installed the EyeTV (8527), ran the above script, but now when attempt to launch EyeTV, I get an alert window saying "The application "EyeTV.app" can't be opened." No explanation. No error code. Just an "OK" button to accept the bad news.

Any ideas?

I'm running Ventura 13.0 (22A5331f) on a 2018 MacBook Pro.

Sorry, this script works only with version 8528 of EyeTV

it cuts the program file and the offset in the file is not the same with other version.

Yes, I did download and unzip "FWAUserLib.framework.zip" in the Downloads folder.

The script only works with 8528? The most recent version I see at the Geniatech site is 8527! Where might I get a copy of 8528?

Very grateful to see this thread having upgraded to Ventura to find EyeTV bombs on start.

I've installed EyeTV 8528 and downloaded both FWAUserLib and eyetv-ventura1.sh to my Downloads folder. However, I can't get the script to run, get this every time. What can I do?

Same error for me, 8258 installed, FWAUserLib in Downloads folder, script saved to Downloads as a text file as well. It does ask for my password (login) so I think it is trying to run the script.

There will be many more of us looking to use this soon as well.

Thanks as well to Rened, et al., for their efforts!

Thought it might be a permissions issue so I did this and it may have helped but now I am not sure what to try next:

Many thanks Joerg 👍

Following your example I saw that my copy of FWAUserLib.framework was 192 bytes, not 160 as in your example. Unzipped another copy, repeated the process and all is well.

The EyeTV app icon shows a warning overlay:

but it does run.

It works

thanks guys

I solve in this mode

1 - Download  https://file.geniatech.com/eyetv4/EyeTV4.0.0_8528.dmg   don't worry about icon barred, install it

2 - Download frame lib https://eyetvforum.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=1223

3 - Download zsh https://eyetvforum.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=1279

4 - open Terminal and type

cd Downloads

5 - now write:

sudo zsh ./eyetv-ventura1.sh

 Run EyeTV

The icon now is normal

Thanks all folks

Hi guys

I'm very carefully following the instructions but I keep getting "can't open input file" in respect of the shell file, despite it being in my Downloads folder.

Any ideas? I'm not a big Terminal person 😐

Appreciate the lengths that users have gone to in order to find a workaround but is there any news on when a Ventura compatible version of the software will become available? This problem was reported back in June as far as I can see and we're still waiting, something that seems commonplace with this software whenever a new version of macOS is released. 🤨

I've created a ticket with their support team and will keep everyone up to date with what I'm told.

PROBLEM SOLVED - PLEASE READ

OK people, problem solved. Geniatech supplied me with an updated version, which now works perfectly on my Mac Studio M1 Max with Venture 13.0. Yes, I know it is marked version 8528 but I presume it must be an updated copy of that version or something. The 8528 version from the website didn't work for me, but the 8528 version via the Mega link worked perfectly.

Here is the link:

https://mega.nz/file/UCUGGYTY#KV9bRIaB7hS8xiEO-JiqTH1ORMKt1kHpEUO1XdIiPmw

Thank you so much to Geniatech for resolving my ticket so quickly!

bloodshot,

When you copy-paste from this site , you get sometime hidden hieratic characters (\ueff)

try after paste to remove right characters including the final "h" and retype the "h" and "enter"

if this does not work retype manually the line.

No, if that does not work, read my post above! There is a new copy of version of 8528 that now works on Ventura.

I re-did yesterday's tries using these steps EXACTLY as Pippo detailed. EyeTV is now working, thanks!

Remember to save the script and the frame lib to your "Downloads" folder.

The password should be the same password you set for the (admin) user that you are "logged" into on your Mac.

I a not (yet) on Apple silicon, just old fashioned Intel i7, 2017 iMac. Waiting for a proper 27" iMac, just like I am waiting for the f#$ing EPG to work again with EyeTV. 😑
