  1. I rather suspect that there are now two different versions of 8528 in the wild. 1) The old version, which was released about a year ago and removed from the download area after new issues. 2) The new version with some corrections regarding macOS Ventura. Poor management of software versions ends up in exactly this kind of discussion. And absolutely no official statement from Geniatech staff confirms all negative experiences with Geniatech, until now.
  2. Geniatech says, EyeTV 4 is compatible at least with the products below. And even the marketing pictures of the EyeTV Hybrid stick are still Elgato branded. I own two of them and they are pretty old. No problems so far in regards to the hatdware, except of the well known software problems with the EyeTV 4 itself, of course (compatibility issues with new Apple OS, missing but promised features...). Did you deinstall the previous version with the software EyeTV reporter (provided by Geniatech)? And make sure you erase the previous settings too (function also included in the reporter software). Compatible Peripherals EyeTV T2 Hybrid EyeTV T2 Lite EyeTV Diversity EyeTV Go EyeTV Hybrid EyeTV Micro (Europe) EyeTV Netstream 4C EyeTV Netstream 4Sat
  3. Hi cala.vera, well done. Hope the version 8528 is working for you. It seems to depend on the Mac model and the macOS. Initially on my Mac mini M1 (Apple silicon) with the new macOS Ventura it crashed and I had to remove the previous installed EyeTV by using Geniatech's reporter software. In case you have to go the same way, make sure that you erase the settings as well (in reporter too). Regards, Roland
Buena suerte.
  5. Hello Cluttered, As you remember for sure, approx. one year ago we were already fighting for a better EyeTV 4. After exchanging a lot of mails with Geniatech staff and after posting many messages in this forum, not much has changed. EyeTV 4 ist still missing features Geniatech promised a long time ago. And still the same chaos whenever Apple updates its OS. Everybody expect Geniatech seems to know: Apple makes developer versions available many months in advance for one reason: the developers have a lot of time to adapt their apps accordingly, allowing a smooth transition for the users. It looks like Geniatech is neither able not willing to learn. Maybe missing knowledge, maybe they simply don't care as long as they are able to sell the software unfinished like this. However, we, the customers are part of this game. Instead of sending them our complaints by using all possible channels, we relief our frsutration by writing our frustration in this forum. And most of us assume, all this stuff is systematically read by Geniatech staff. If only a fraction of the forum users would direct their complaints directly to the Geniatech staff concerned, the pressure on the company would increase much more. It doesn't make too much sense to keep our frustration within this closed user group in a forum nobody at Geniatech cares about. Flood the mailboxes of Geniatech staff and they will act. Put all addresses below in your «send to» boxes. I would name this «the unified power of the customers». Just act... kelly.li@geniatech.com (Geniatech EyeTV Support Team) abbey@geniatech.com (Sales Director Geniatech headquarter Shenzen) cpf@geniatech.com dgg@geniatech.com sales@geniatech.com suggestion@geniatech.com GTESales@geniatech.com (Geniatech Europe GmbH, EMEA HQ in Germany, Director is Mike Decker)
  6. Hi aliciaviola! Unfortunately, we, the EyeTV 4 customers became guinea pigs (alpha testers) for EyeTV software. However, let's try: Have you deinstalled the previous version with the software EyeTV reporter? In any way: Use the deinstall function AND erase the settings too (2-steps in EyeTV reporter). I would even recommend to reboot the Mac afterwards, before you are going to install the version 8528. The EyeTV reporter software should be available somewhere in the Geniatech download section – I don't remember where exactly anymore because I have it available on my Macs already since ages. As in your case it doesn't start the channel search: have you tried to unplug/replug the EyeTV stick? Regards, Roland
  7. Hello Alinghi, in the meantime I got the same link from Geniatech Shenzen (Kelly). While after several tries EyeTV 4 now runs on my Mac mini M1 (Apple silicon), it doesn't work on my MacPro 2019. There it crashes after the program scan. Of course I deinstalled the former version by using EyeTV reporter and the Mac has been rebooted several times but still crashing a couple of seconds after strating EyeTV 4. Crash log already sent to Geniatech. Regards, Roland
  8. Well, didn‘t work for me. De-installed the software with EyeTV reporter and installed the version 8528 that became available here. Result: After the channel search the software crashed on my Mac mini M1 with Ventura. Several restarts but no success.
  9. Hi all! Be aware: For a few days the version 8528 already popped up in the Geniatech download section a few months ago. It was the result of other EyeTV issues I discussed with Geniatech and it had nothing to do with the upcoming macOS Ventura. Unfortunately, this 8528 incorporated new troubles, for instance it didn' stream audio to the EyeTV iOS app anymore. After my feedback it has been removed from the download section. I assume that this hidden 8528 release on the Geniatech download server is still the old one, not containing any fix in regards to the Ventura issues. Just be careful. As long as there is no official communication by Geniatech, I recommend not to download from unknown sources. Once more it becomes obvious that Geniatech is unable or not willing to take care of EyeTV 4 for the Mac OS. As I already wrote in a former post: Mail your complaints to all this staff listed below. We, the customers of EyeTV 4 macOS, deserve a much better service. And it is time to let them know that we strongly disagree with the chaotic way they handle all the issues. They have to become aware: If they do not act, their behavior will result in a reputation risk for the company. kelly.li@geniatech.com (Geniatech EyeTV Support Team) abbey@geniatech.com (Sales Director Geniatech headquarter Shenzen) cpf@geniatech.com dgg@geniatech.com sales@geniatech.com suggestion@geniatech.com GTESales@geniatech.com (Geniatech Europe GmbH, EMEA HQ in Germany, Director is Mike Decker)
  10. Hi Il Gatto, well I just tried to install the updated 8528 onto my Mac mini M1 server. Before updating to Ventura the version 8527 was more or less running stable (except of all the missing features we are waiting for since ages). Of course, I used the EyeTV reporter for a proper removing before installing the 8528. Initially, the channel search worked but after finishing the channel scan the app crashed. Tried several restarts without any success. It reminds me on a former experience with the 8528 that has been published after my feedback some months ago. It killed the audio part when streaming to the iOS app and has been removed from the download site shortly afterwards. Conclusion: lack of knowledge and experience in regards to Apple coding, quick and dirty fixes, no systematic quality control, no professional product management and communication and most important: lack of business ethics. The Geniatech management is fully aware of the problems but they prefer to sell a software that is simply not ready for the market. With all due respect to your defence of this company, what Geniatech is doing is beyond what is legally acceptable. And I have long been surprised that no one has taken legal action against this company. As I wrote in an earlier post: We should all flood Geniatech's mail addresses with our complaints. By the way: I already sent them a support request. Up to now, I got no response. What a surprise!
  11. Hi Il Gato! Txs for the info. Another user already published a link to an external and uncontrolled download server for this version. However, in my opinion it is more than strange that Geniatech doesn't publish the Ventura version on this site here. Not even an official statement – very fishy... Best regards, Roland
  12. Hi Delacroix, sounds good but why do we have to download this fix by clicking on an uncontrolled external link? Sorry to say but this would be an excellent way to distribute manipulated software (malware). To me this doesn't sound serious and I would really prefer to get this fix via the official Geniatech website, together with an explaining statement. The fact that they not even changed the release number is a sign of a rather quick and dirty fix. However, it would be great if it really works. Can you confirm that all is fine, please? Txs and kind regards, Roland
  13. Sorry, Pippo, my reply should have been addressed to the user delacroix, of course. Regards, Roland

  15. Dear EyeTV community In December 2021 and January 2022 due to ongoing crashes and quality issues in general I exchanged dozens of mails with Geniatech Europe and Geniatech Shenzen. On their request I sent them many screen shots and software error logs. And I made them aware of mistakes in their advertising in regards too EyeTV 4 for Macs (i.e. referring to Apple software that does not exist anymore, listing features that are not working in EyeTV 4 anymore and using outdated Apple terms). The result was rather frustrating. A lot of mails but nearly no improvement in regards to the software. Is it because of a low number of users? Certainly not as the the German director of Geniatech Europe (Mike Decker) wrote me that they have an user community with a two times seven digit number (means millions of users). Fact is: Geniatech completely missed the long in advance announced transfer of the Apple world to a 64-bit OS, that already started in 2010. And in 2018, when Apple stopped to support the 32-bit apps, It took them 15 months to produce a kind of beta software that had a very limited feature set. Furthermore they used Covid-19 as an argument for not being able to deliver within an acceptable time frame. Even now, 4 years later, EyeTV macOS is far away of being a finalised product with all the promised features – features we were used to by using the old EyeTV 3, coded by Elgato. And again they missed to make use of the developer version for the new macOS Ventura 13 that was available for months before the public launch. The result: After the update to macOS Ventura EyeTV 4 became unusable. Once more, we, the user community, feel frustrated and cheated by Geniatech. In the US of A and most probably also in the EU such a behavior would qualify for a legal battle, as Geniatech never delivered the advertised feature set and still selling this software in an unfinished and now even crashing version. Beside the legal aspects simply it is a question of business ethics. It looks like thet totally unacceptable behavior of this company needs to be counteracted by the power of their customers. As nobody at Geniatech cares in regards to the content of this forum, all of us should send a huge amount of complaining mails to the people concerned. During my contacts with Geniatech Shenzen and Germany I collected the contact addresses listed below. Feel free to flood these mail addresses with your complaints. kelly.li@geniatech.com (Geniatech EyeTV Support Team) abbey@geniatech.com (Sales Director Geniatech headquarter Shenzen) cpf@geniatech.com dgg@geniatech.com sales@geniatech.com suggestion@geniatech.com GTESales@geniatech.com (Geniatech Europe GmbH, EMEA HQ in Germany, Director is Mike Decker)

  17. Well, in this case it's only € 29,95, at least. And the USB receiver stick(s), of course. However, according to them they have a user community of a «two times seven-digit number» (maybe Win and Mac). If only a fraction of these users is going to buy the software, the sum below the line is not so bad. Just playing around with numbers: seven-digit numbers range from 1 million to just below 10 millions. Let's assume 3 millions have been forced to buy the 64bit Mac version. This would result in a revenue of (3'000'000 multiplied by € 29.95) 89.85 million Euros. And this covers the software part only. Should be plenty of money available for running this kind of business, including employing a nice team of talented coders.
  18. You are very welcome. You can also try to contact them via the below listed contact opportunities. Found them under «Legal Notice» in the footer of the internet pages... Geniatech Europe GmbH Kaiserstrasse 100 52134 Herzogenrath Germany Represented by: Managing Director Heinz-Jürgen Michael Decker Phone: 0049-2407-55290-80 Fax: 0049-2407-55290-89 E-Mail: GTESales@geniatech.com
  19. Well, plenty of bugs, as known. As I already explained: I contacted the managing director of Geniatech Europe, followed by mail exchanges with the management in Shenzen. Most probably they just replied because I'm in journalism. However, they are not really open for the necessary steps. And in my opinion any further involvement is wasting time. What kind of action do you propose?
  20. Hi 69jessup! I just checked the mail address I got my license key from. It's "services@eu-geniatech.com". Sometimes mails end in the spam folder. However, I assume you already checked it, right? I even received a mail with a link for activating my account. Stupid question: Did they charge your credit card for the license? You could also try to contact this mail for complaining: suggestion@geniatech.com
  21. Indeed it seems to be a very strange company. Most probably they totally underestimated the problems when they bought the whole stuff from Elgator a couple of years ago. Contacting the managing director of their European branch did not bring any success. Therefore I decided to contact the headquarter in Shenzen. However, after exchanging a couple of mails, I come to the conclusion that there is not too much to expect. Most probably the wrong people and no money available. It is a shame as it is obvious that talented Apple coders could bring this piece of software to a full success in no time. In my opinion Geniatech cannot be seen as a serious company. The point is: As long as we, the users, are willing to accept to be cheated like this, nothing will happen. Maybe a lawyer could find a way to open a legal case as they advertised functions that have never been implemented...
  22. Hi Cluttered, there were a lot of users (including me) reporting that the export to mov, mp4, mpeg and others does not work. In the meantime I came to the conclusion that it works more or less well in the background, while the red progress circle hangs at around 20 percent and never finishes. There is not even a pop up message at the end of the export. However, in fact the export takes place in the background within a reasonable time. Simply, it's just an indication bug (hanging red progress circle). Can you please check and confirm this? Txs. I already forwarded the problem with the export progress indication to Geniatech Shenzen but according to them fixing this has no priority. To me it looks like they have nor a coding team available nor something like a project manager. Even worse: Apple knowledge and quality control barely existent. Most probably they are already happy if we can watch live TV with all the USB sticks in the market. Sending them long bug lists doesn't make any sense as they refuse to act. Even their advertising for EyeTV version 4 is totally outdated. Promised to fix functions until February 2020 that are still non existent. And export for applications like iMovie® HD, iDVD®, or DVD Studio Pro® is rather strange, as these apps reached the end of live a long time ago or got new names. And they are still using the term iTunes while Apple replaced iTunes by different new apps. Conclusion: Geniatech is neither willing nor able to bring EyeTV 4 to a real success. They rather try to keep it running, a way of at least. Maybe, simply it's no business anymore?
  23. After playing around with the export module I figured out: The export (mov, mp4, mpeg and others) semms to work. However, as the red progress circle is not coded in a proper way, it looks like the export hangs at around 20 percent. And unfortunately there is no message popping up at the end of the export. This leads to the impression that the export doesn't work at all, while the export has been foinished in the background within acceptable time. I already forwarded the obvious bug regarding the red progress circle (hanging at 20 percent and never finishes) to Geniatech Shenzen but according to them a fix has no priority. To me it looks like they have no real coder team available, as fixing something like this would be rather easy. Can somebody else please confirm that the export works in the background? Just check the respective folder for exported files.
  24. Just in case you don't know: Your license for EyeTV 3.0 is not valid anymore. For version 4.0 you will have to buy a new license...
