Choppy video with HDHomeRun (2 channel version)
zanc replied to zanc's topic in EyeTV 4 (MacOSX APP)
Hi Paul Thanks. However, until Geniatech get back to me regarding the invalidation of my activation code I'm unable to give your suggestion a try. I did not know they limit the activation code to three machines and it just so happened that over time I've being running it on a sequence of machines that all have died (they're all old machines). Trying to contact Geniatech but can to get any answer. -
Choppy video with HDHomeRun (2 channel version) Now getting choppy video. Must be the EyeTV software since when I use Silicon Dust's own HDHomeRun software video is fine. Anyone else had the same experience.

Geniatech invalidated my activation key Your activation key “XXXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXXX” has been invalidated. Enter a new activation key above. If you find this to be an error, please contact Geniatech Customer Service. I was having problems with choppy video on an HDHomeRun device (worked pergectly with HDHomeRun application) so tried re-installing on the Mac and then with no success on my laptop. Now it says activation code has been invalidated. Ive sent them 2 emails but have not yet had a reply. What is going on?

II think you have come to the wrong place for answers. version 8524 is now over a year old. They're only complaints. If I was Geniatech I'd be thoroughly ashamed, and definitely would not continue to sell products without working software. -
Same here. It means

Agreed. This is the biggest pile of crap I have ever bought. They do not even have the guts to tell what, if anything, they are doing with EysTV 4.
-
But EyeTV 4 is not fit for purpose. As I've said before spend your money on Parallels and run EyeTV 3 under an earlier OS. It works a treat. Stable, full functionality, no video stuttering.

Could be a very long wait -
Looks as though COM 8 will be removed from Freeview very shortly. So missing channels will be re-mapped onto the COMs. This means channels such as BBC Four HD will then work on EyeTV. (Forget EyeTV 4 and run EyeTV 3 under parallels, you will never want to see EyeTV 4 again)
-
Can I suggest a working alternative to EyeTV 4.. My suggestion is to not spend the money on the upgrade but instead purchase Parallels instead. EyeTV 3.6.9 works great under emulation, even the jerky video of EyeTV 4 disappears. I now have video export back, and I enjoy the great experience I have had for over 2 decades. A real complement to the original software developers at Elgato.

Just did a bit of googling and can confirm that BBC FOUR HD is on COM8 from Sandy Heath. So I can confirm Moongravy's issue. As I said the device IS capable of receiving the channel as HDHomerun s/w picks it up no problem.

Sorry, just getting completely frustrated with the poor quality and zero response from Geniatech. It's now a complete bag of crap. If I hadn't invested so much in hardware I'd have given up a long time ago. I'd even love to go back to earlier version where I could at least get the stereo signal from a 5.1 broadcast.
-
One problem with sound is that when receiving a surround sound broadcast it picks up the left and right channels of the 5.1 signal. It doesn't either pick the 2 channel stereo or sample the 5.1 into a stereo signal. Can we have the debug menu back, as with that I did manage to pick some option which gave me the correct sound.

Not sure if I can't receive COM8, but my HDHomerun will not tune in BBC Four HD. However, the HDHomerun software itself DOES pick it up. I've tried re-scanning many time with all options tried. Other issues: 1. Will not decode surround sound broadcasts. Just plays the Left and Right channels. 2. Recording do not stop recording. Crashes when force stopped.
