I have written numerous times to this firm over the past couple of days without one reply both through the service requrest portal and contact portal. I did get an automated reply from the site stating that they received my queries but nothing more. It's very disheartenting to see that my hardware is going to end up in a landfill because this company doesn't support both it's clients and the hardware that it has procurred from elgato. In my case, all I wanted was some some support wuth eyetv2 which didnt work with eyetv hybrid under OSX 10.12. I later found that that it no longer works with version 2 but supposedly works with version 3. I downloaded it thinking that it was a free update. My serial number didnt work so I wrote them... I checked around and read that there is an upgrade discount for version 2 owners but cannot find it on the site. The cost for version 3 is too high and if that's the price without a discount for previous owners... I'll just trash the product and be done with it. Either way, I would appreicate a reply from this company so I can proceed. Barry

I am starting a new topic since the current (2/17/19) discussion of TV Guide not updating has gotten overcrowded. My hope for this topic: just focus on using xmltvlistings.com as an alternative to the non-functional TV Guide EPG. Has anyone automated the EPG from xmltvlistings similar to what is described for schedulesdirect.org in the "EyeTV Portfolio Software" Forum discussion? Specifically, not being a programmer, I need some guidance in using the API from xmltvlistings (see the link to it in their help menu). I understand what it is designed to do, but the 4MB file it downloads is not identified as an .xmltv file in format, and is not in a format that EyeTV can use. So other steps must be needed. Thanks anyone for your help. In comparison, the XMLTListings non-programmers option to simply download a 7-day xmltv EPG file works just fine; after preparing EyeTV*, you just drag the file onto the EyeTV icon. But it would be nice to automate it, get 14-day data, and hopefully the season/episode info (not included in the 7-day file). * - before using the 7-day EPG direct download, manually change the EPG source to xmltv in EyeTV (use the dropdown menu in Channels) for each active channel in your lineup, and (this is important) save the result as a new lineup. Make sure the lineup is the same as the lineup you select when you sign up for XMLTVListings.com (that site allows you to customize the lineup just as EyeTV does).

In the daily update of my US EPG listings yesterday, all my program information vanished. Further update attempts have not filled in any new information. I have cleared the EPG database several times without improvement; when that failed, I re-ran the setup assistant, also without improvement. As of now, I can see the title of the current program in the frontmost window - but only in EyeTV 3.6.9; EyeTV 4 does not provide that information. The program guide has no program listings whatsoever. I can still schedule recordings, but only by inputting all the information by hand. Is this a general EPG outage, or a US-specific EPG outage, or a US over-the-air EPG outage? Or is this just me? The veterans here may recall that all EPG listings vanished a few years ago, and were gone for over six months (even though Geniatech continued to sell EPG subscriptions, effectively accepting payment for a service they were not providing). Does anyone know whether this is what's happening now? If this isn't resolved in the next few days, I think that's the end of my days with EyeTV, after 16 years, seven tuners and twelve licenses. I can't keep pouring money and energy into an application that the developer won't make any visible effort to maintain or support. 😞 Software: EyeTV 3.6.9 (7530), EyeTV 4.0.0 (8526) macOS 10.14.6 Mojave EPG license current until November 2022 Hardware: 2015 13" MacBook Pro Retina i7/1TB SSD/16GB HDHomeRun Quatro (Ethernet connection)

Recently, when starting 32-bit apps on a Mac, a window appears informing you that the application is not optimized for the current operating system of the Mac. This message also affects eyetv if the operating system version macOS HighSierra 10.13.4 is installed on the computer. Irrespective of this information window, eyetv is in no way impaired in its operability and the usual quality. There are no negative effects on the computer and its data, eyetv runs without problems. As future versions of macOS are expected to limit the execution of 32-bit applications as the next step, we would like to inform our customers about the ongoing development of a 64-bit version of eyetv. With this 32 to 64 bit version step, eyetv as a smart TV platform will continue to meet eyetv's expectations, which are also consistently fulfilled under iOS, Android and Windows.

EyeTV 3 Version 7528 was released this morning (US time), announced by e-mail message by Angela Wu. So I started a new thread on this version since other active threads are long. Let's use this thread to report experiences / problems with the new release. I downloaded it, installed on my non-media center Mac to determine software type. It is 32-bit, so it is obsolete in 2 months when Catalina (Mac OS 10.15) comes out in September or October, since it will no longer support 32-bit applications. Since I have a working version (7524) on my Media Center mac, using XMLTVListings (which is apparently $10/month cheaper than the new TV Guide), I don't see the point in installing the new version and don't plan to. I noticed that simultaneously the number of recordings in EyeTV Plus in my working version (7524) suddenly dropped from around 50,000 or so to zero yesterday. There is now a signup screen (which I didn't use) for EyeTV Plus, though the "Access Prohibited" message behind it is still in German. What have been your experiences with version 7528, those who have installed it? I gather it DOES reinstate support for HD HomeRun (I am still using an EyeTV Hybrid).

DON'T INSTALL UPDATE V. 3.6.9 (7521) !!! ISSUE: I think there's WAY TOO many issues affecting everyone differently, in multiple ways depending on the product and SW you have. We have EyeTV 3 /pro... or whatever... and it knocked out ALL our reception. BTW - At least on Mac, when you update their app - the installer will automatically put the old version in the trash. DONT trash it!!! SAVE IT - just in case. I did, and we're using that version until they figure out what's going on and provide an actual, reliable update. Unfortunately, if you're here... reading the forums, most likely it's because you've already installed the update, looking for answers or solutions. After our own personal experience with the update, and reading other's issues here, I highly recommend just waiting for an additional update or EVEN two - to wait for them to get all their bugs out. I think they're trying to implement too many changes at once. I noticed after updating ours - they've added what looks to be some kind of online streaming content service. But we lost ALL our local over air stations running. When trying to flip through channels - only a blue screen that simply says, no reception. It wasn't until I was on Geniatech's site to send support a message, something mentioned about having to do an "auto scan" of ALL the stations, which will also mean... having to go through ALL the stations and deselecting ones we don't want. What's worse about this is... ever since Geniatech's took over is their lack to include ANY kind of instructional text or instructions. I've NEVER not seen a software developer not include even a basic "text file" if there were additional necessary actions needed to be taken for a successful, SIMPLE update. Nope - NOT Geniatech! MY ADVICE: I would NOT install the update until THEY correct their errors, and not make you jump through hoops to correct them. OR... you at least better double check and have all the necessary info BEFORE downloading and updating, because you'll still be luck if you get a straight answer. REMEMBER!! SAVE YOUR PREVIOUS VERSION!

I bought a preowned EyeTV 250 plus that came complete with EyeTV 3 software and the activation key. I have El Capitan on my computer so I was unable to run the software that came with the device so I downloaded the newest versions from the Geniatech website and when I launch the program and run through the setup assistant I reach the section where I need to enter my activation key and it doesn't unlock the 'Next' key. What are my options here? I specifically was looking to get an Eyetv 250 plus WITH an activation key card to that I didn't need to shell out more money for the software. I've tried contacting Geniatech support via their page and have not heard anything back. I'd really appreciate any help/experience anyone has with this issue. Thanks!
