EyeTV 4 with MacOS 15 Sequoia

🤬 Franchement c’est une honte de la part de l’éditeur du software, aucun suivi de mise à jour, en plus acheter depuis peu.

i'm following this topic with interest and questions.

Do you really believe after all this years that this software is still active ? that someone cares, that they send your registraion key.

I see no point in posting +1 and +2.

The only reason i'm on 10.14

"Do you really believe after all this years that this software is still active ?"  it was up until 15.4

"that someone cares" not in the least

", that they send your registraion key."  When I got a new system my EyeTV code was flagged as already used. This was in November of 2024. After many emails to support I bought another license (I could dispute with my credit card company if the code did not work) -- the system sent it and it worked up until this week...

Is this the end? most likely, unless someone smarter than me figures out something to do to the system to "fix" whatever the issue is. Do I think Geniatech will post an update, no way.

Use Sentinel and self-sign EyeTV, then it works again (here at Mac mini m4)

Are you F'ing kidding me! AGB you are a genius, thanks!

Took me a minute to figure out what Sentinel was, got it from MacUpdate, it is called Sentinel (duhh). Unzipped, launched, dropped EyeTv on the self-signed section. I had to launch and quit EyeTV a couple times, WORKS!

Again, AGB, my gratitude to you sir!

Cudos, this works! I spent hours, trying out everything. You saved my beloved Netstream 4Sat setup. Just for information, the only other app I found able to receive an SAT>IP signal from the Eye TV Netstream is: https://www.satip-mobile.de/satiptranslator/home-en.html . Later works, but rather limited in functionality.

Again, many thanks for posting !

my setup: Mac mini M4, macOS Sequoia 15.4

Google search  "sentinel, mac"

Choose MacUpdate and download "Sentinel"

Open it and add (drag) your EyeTv App into sentinel.

Magic happens.

Thank you AGB, this worked for me!

If Sentinel fails to sign the EyeTV app, download EyeTV again and sign that app.

Let's hope Geniatech will update the app soon, maybe with some additional bugfixes?... yeah who am I kidding. 😄

Phew! With trepidation and fingers crossed . . . this fix worked for me.

Many, many thanks for sharing.

I've used Eyetv for over 21 years. I live full time in motorhome, on the road in Australia, and TV keeps me sane.

If it's just a signature, it seems as though it'd be a simple fix for Geniatech, but whether they'll do it; who knows?

Did not work on 8532. Repeated. Did not work. Deleted and used 8531. Did not work either. Repeated. Did not work. Downloaded 8532 again. Did not work. Repeated. Did not work. Repeated. Worked!!! WTF? Whattheheck? Whatever!

Thanks for the hint and for the indication, that I'm not the only one for whom it did not work on the first try.

Twisting this topic a bit.

Been using an EyeTV HD on a Mac for 15 years (ugggh) connected via component to a very large cable companies box here in the USA. I know that it is supposed to be 720P or 1080i and I was used to that "HD" quality , or so I thought. During the week off, till AGB saved the day, I was streaming via their website using Chrome. It looked great -- but no buffer to go back and forth, no saving shows (locally) via the "analog hole", etc.

After resurrecting the EyeTV HD again and looking at the quality (trying both 720P or 1080i) it looks terrible compared to streaming via the web app and a browser. Really terrible, tried different setting in the cable box and different setting in the EyeTV HD. Web streaming wins quality every time, it is not even close. Same monitor of course...

Question: Anybody else compare their El Gato/Geniatech quality to the native streaming app for your service?

I have come to the conclusion that it is time to unplug the EyeTV HD, its been a good run....not worth the (future)hassle if the quality sucks. Potential savings of the rip-off $12/month I pay for the cable box.

Interesting: When starting EyeTV (8532) on my MacBook Pro (2019, Intel i9) it works fine ... Under 15.4! ...

But it always crashes after a while ...
