great_vc 5 Report post Posted September 26, 2024 Have you ever run eyetv 4 in a newer 64bit version of MacOS ? Was this working fine with no problems on v14 ?
Peter C 2 Report post Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) Works OK on MacOS 14 Sonoma, just the iPhone/iPad access has been lost. But not expecting any releases beyond 8532 so don't want to lose my TV tuner. Edited September 26, 2024 by Peter C more detail added
Wightspirit 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2024 Hello, Constant crashes with 8532 (using EyeTV Diversity) on Sequoia 15.0 MacBook M1, rendering it unusable. Was rock-solid in Sonoma, even with storage on an external (spinning) disk. Hoping for the best in 15.1, fearing the worst. Best.
Peter C 2 Report post Posted October 2, 2024 Thanks so much for sharing. I have similar hardware, Mac mini M1 with EyeTV Diversity. I feared this was going to be the case and do hope a future Sequoia update resolves your issues.

great_vc 5 Report post Posted October 5, 2024 Most active thread in years here 😁 So i jump and highjack it, i'm the one who haven't upgraded from Mojave because it is my only source of TV. My one question do not think has answered. Is the remote control from the mac mini 2014 , the classic metallic one works ?????????

Peter C 2 Report post Posted October 5, 2024 (edited) ... but I now see they were sold for use with Macs fitted with IR receivers Edited October 5, 2024 by Peter C
great_vc 5 Report post Posted October 6, 2024 Yes that is correct, but do they work with eyetv4, there were people saying that no remote works with v4. only keyboad.

The original remote that came with my EyeTV Hybrid 2008 works with this set up: EyeTV 4, Ventura, iMac Retina 5K 27-inch 2017. The EyeTV Hybrid has the receiver. This iMac does not have IR. great_vc 5 Report post Posted October 12, 2024 No that remote has nothing to do with eyetv, it is an original apple remote bought separately when i got the mac mini. it is IR it is exactly as you see it on the picture. According to other users, NO remote was working on v4. That was years ago though

ChicagoEyeTVguy2 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2024 I need to move up from a 2012 Mac Mini running Sierra to something current. I have EyeTV hybrids (2008) and absolutely need the FM function. Can anyone with this model confirm that FM works fine in the most recent 64 bit version?

ATSC-user 3 Report post Posted December 1, 2024 EyeTV 4.0.0 (8532) works fine with an older EyeTV Hybrid (ATSC+NTSC, not DVB) USB stick tuner on a Mac Mini M2 Pro with 16 GB RAM running MacOS 15.1.1. I use an external USB-C Lacie disk for EyeTV media storage, but use the internal flash drive for the EyeTV application and configuration files. This all works OK. Sorry, but I have NEVER used the FM radio feature and I have no way to test that. I only use the ATSC tuner and also playback of older ATSC recordings from external disk. JWR 1 Report post Posted December 12, 2024 I just updated my Mac to Sequoia 15.2. Now EyeTV 4.0.0 (8532) crashes short after starting the program. EyeTV 4 worked flawlessly under Sequoia 15.1.1
coolcube 2 Report post Posted December 12, 2024 I have the same problem not sure it worked flawlessly though on my M1 MBA before Sequoia 15.2. Now since I updated to 15.2 this morning it just crashes. I have tried on my Intel Mac and it does the same thing. SAT>IP tuner worked most of the time with old Sequoia updates. Ironically I use macOS Mojave in a VM using EyeTV 3.x for reliable recordings and safely quits EyeTV afterwards. The current EyeTV 4.x always would keep the record window active and would not stop the stream after recording, the mac would never sleep that way. They have never fixed that issue for me and have told them in the past about that issue. I only use EyeTV 4.x for editing and use ffmpeg to clean up streams and export to Handbrake to encode in HEVC mp4 files for my Plex server.
StefanG 2 Report post Posted December 13, 2024 I have the same problem. Mac M1 Pro Max, after updating to Sequoia 15.2 the app crashes shortly after start. Very sad ... I hope, they fix it BEFORE Christmas ...
paulmacsmurf 3 Report post Posted December 14, 2024 I have to say that it seems to be working well for me (apart from the pre-existing crash-on-quit bug). Mac mini M1 on 15.2, HDHomeRun Duo.
ChicagoEyeTVguy2 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2024 Sorry very slightly off topic but this is the only active EyeTV discussion in the universe. Can anyone confirm that FM works in EyeTV 4?

Very sad ... I hope, they fix it BEFORE Christmas ... Update: Today I checked the preferences of EyeTv 4 and disabled the sharing-options (both check-boxes). In the checkbox "Player" I activated "HD transcoding to 720p" (I unsually record movies without this transcoding as they then have full resolution ...). In "Display" I checked "Overscan on" and "Full-size" to "normal", Deinterlace both to "Progressive Scan". Eye TV now runs for more than 1 ½ hours .... Let's hope, it will stay this way... 🙂
